The Parish Council consists of 13 elected Councillors, including the Chairman and Vice-Chairman.  It employs a salaried clerk (part-time) and a full-time Village Maintenance Manager.  All Councillors have to stand for re-election every 4 years.  The next election will take place in May 2011.
The Council is run on a non-political basis as a team concentrating on putting Bramhope and Carlton villages first.

The Clerk's role, as Proper Officer of the Parish Council, is to ensure the legality of all its procedures in complying with the Local Government Acts of 1972 and 2000, as well as :
 
         Being a member of the working groups responsible for: Village Maintenance, Strategy, Cemetery, Communications, and Planning Enforcement;
        
Acting as Registrar for the Moor Road Cemetery.  This involves liaising with families and funeral directors and attending all funerals held there;
        
Being the principal point of contact for residents who wish to raise issues or make comments about the village.

Parish Council meetings are held every fourth Wednesday in each month (except December) in the Robert Craven Memorial Hall at 7.30 p.m. The public and press are cordially invited to be present.
